Laureen is currently working for the Association for Mineral Exploration BC.
Laureen has provided strategic planning, community/aboriginal
relations, and project management services to
organizations such as Brookfield Renewable Power, Terrane Metals, BC Ferry Services, Vancouver
Port Authority, Minerva Foundation for BC Women,
BC Transmission Corporation, Terasen Gas/Kinder
Morgan, Indian and Northern Affairs Canada and
the Industry Council for Aboriginal Business
and taught organizational development and strategic
planning courses for BCIT. She is author of the
publication, Making the Grade: A Guide to Success
in Corporate Aboriginal Partnerships.
Prior to independent consulting, Laureen successfully
led a professional staff to assist in the establishment
of Spectra Energy (formerly Duke Energy) as an
innovative leader in focused community engagement
initiatives. These included an award-winning
Aboriginal strategy entitled Sharing a Vision;
a leading strategic philanthropy program; and
Northern
Opportunities, a major trades education
program that has created a seamless ‘regional
campus’ across northeastern British Columbia.
Laureen received a Master of Arts in Public
Policy and Business Administration from the University
of Calgary, and has obtained a Certificate in
Corporate Social Responsibility from Boston College.
She is an advisor to the Community Development
Education Program of the Social Planning and
Research Council of BC, serves on the Muskwa-Kechika Advisory Board, leads the Curriculum Group for Minerva
Foundation’s Aboriginal ‘Learning
to Lead’ program, and is former chair of
the Aboriginal Relations Committee of the Canadian
Energy Pipeline Association.
